concrete5 version 5.7 ships with Bootstrap by default. It’s a great framework with lots of options baked in. Over 55% of the current 5.7 themes are using Bootstrap! And why not use the power of Bootstrap with these Bootstrap specific Block Types. No extra CSS will be included, so just keep on using the theme you already have. These awesome Block Types will take your (theme) Bootstrap styling to make it all happen. An alert block, a block quote, a button, a nice carousel or even progress bars.
So, what Block Types do we have to offer?
- Alerts
- Block Quotes
- Buttons
- Carousels
- Glyph icons
- Headings
- Images
- Jumbotrons
- Labels
- Modals
- Progress Bars
- Responsive Embeds (iFrames)
- Wells
To see all of these in action, visit http://bootstrapblocks.devoda.nl/features for pages that are only using Bootstrap Blocks (and the “Content” Block Type) in the content. No custom coding was required.
Happen to have a theme that is NOT using Bootstrap (version 3) yet? Try and implement Bootstrap (CSS files). Not sure your theme is using Bootstrap or not? Let me know, I will check it for you. This Add-On/these Block Types do expect you to have a Bootstrap theme. The themes in the marketplace with Bootstrap have version 3 or higher. This version of Bootstrap was released on August 19th, 2013.
“Are these all the Block Types you can offer us”?
Well, there are 13 already, where most Add-Ons only have 1 or 2 Block Types. The “Bootstrap Button” Block Type is a very (very) powerful one, giving you endless possibilities. You can link to pages, external URL’s, files, trigger to open a modal or just a default button. Add an icon, add a tooltip/popover, select different variations (default, primary, success, info etc.). Like I said, endless possibilities.
And to answer the question: yes, those are all we can currently offer. There are more Block Types planned. Like “Media Object” for example.
Some features might require you to add default Bootstrap JavaScript (before they can actually work). This can all be setup within the Add-On (by going to Dashboard - Pages & Themes - Bootstrap Blocks).
